Interpack 2023, a concentrate of technology and innovation

Share:

Since time immemorial, developments in the packaging sector have been highlighting issues that are considered priorities by the process and packaging industry and their respective end users.

After a six-year hiatus, Interpack confirmed its status as the benchmark event for packaging and a strategic element in the innovation cycle of this important, multi-faceted sector.

Over 143,000 visitors from all over the world – India, Japan and the United States were the most important countries of origin – visited the 2800 stands of the event, which focused on four key themes, underpinned by two megatrends that are influencing global economic development: Sustainability and Digitalisation.

Challenges and opportunities to be seized

The enormous challenges that characterise this particular moment of global market transformation can be turned into even greater opportunities. This is why the 2023 edition of Interpack was certainly one of the most important in the event’s history.

The overwhelmingly positive feedback from visitors confirms this. More than 96% stated that they had achieved their goals set for the trade fair. Exhibitors were also satisfied and in many cases their expectations were even exceeded.

The four cross-cutting areas driving innovation

In all application areas of packaging, from food to beverages to confectionery and bakery products, from pharmaceuticals to cosmetics and from non-food to industrial goods, the focus was on digital technologies that are indispensable for sustainable products and processes.

Sustainability in all its forms was by far the most important theme of the event. Exhibitors presented high-level technologies and holistic concepts that take efficiency and sustainability into account along the entire production chain.

The Circular Economy, as an economic model that can no longer be postponed to produce less waste and reduce environmental impact, is perhaps the most impactful trend and a major challenge on many fronts.

The main and fundamental function of packaging is product safety. With this in mind, digital technologies together with the latest materials are an important means of ensuring safety.
