Decreasing consumptions in packaging lines, thanks to vision systems

Published: 11/06/2021

The current challenge for Makro Labelling is combining technological, mechanical and electronic innovation of its machines with a production based on energy saving, being able to realize efficaciously the concept of a more sustainable development economy. This concept goes at the same pace as a fully Made in Italy production that offers solutions featuring higher output rate and lower consumptions.

Makro Labelling solutions succeed in maximising the sustainability degree of end-users’ products and processes, through the utmost care of such aspects since designing phases.

«Since the early stages, Makro Labelling machines have been conceived with particular motors standing out for low energy consumption», Massimo Manzotti, Sales Manager, underlines. «Moreover, the technology of our labellers ensures the utmost flexibility to users, so enabling various possibilities of different applications, also on recycled materials such as returnable bottles».

Monitoring and scrap reduction

Makro Labelling contribution in the monitoring improvement and in the processing scrap decreasing is extremely important. «Our A.L.I.C.E vision system allows the analysis of the packaged bottle, so reducing production scraps», Manzotti illustrates.

Naturally, these analysis and monitoring tasks must be affordable for the operator, due to a user-friendly approach. «A vision system shouldn’t be complex, otherwise the operator risks not succeeding in using it comfortably and actually limiting its use», Manzotti underlines. «It happened of seeing production lines where the system is off or by-passed because the operator cannot manage it and gives up its service. As alternative, the intervention of super-skilled, but expensive, technicians is necessary to produce and to achieve reliable controls.

One of the reasons that explains the success of Makro Labelling machines and systems is precisely our capability of offering functional solutions that, even if complex, are made available for operators simply and intuitively, providing them with new possibilities and flexibility that were before unconceivable».

Vision system, the natural ally of labelling

Therefore, Makro Labelling commits to the development of solutions, systems and patents that grant performance, reduction of processing costs and scraps. «The vision system is the natural conclusion of the labelling process because, after applying the label, the procedure is not accomplished: we must check if the applied label is the right one, if it is correctly positioned and if its smoothing is defect-free. For this reason, we have decided to create an in-house Vision Division and to invest important resources in A.L.I.C.E. and M.A.I.A vision systems».

The development of the two systems allows customers to interface with a single manufacturer that can provide fast and direct after-sale services and satisfy the different packaging requirements of the market.
