Cama Group, packaging and secondary packaging systems and lines

Published: 16/03/2021

Established in 1981 at Garbagnate Monastero (LC), Cama Group designs and manufactures high-technology secondary packaging systems and lines (Packaging Division) and robotics (Robotic Division) and proposes complete integrated packaging lines, starting from the reception of primary products (chocolate and snacks, biscuits, ice creams, yogurts, coffee, pet food, personal and home hygiene) up to their packaging before palletising.

Cama operates on a world scale with offices in Europe (France, Holland and United Kingdom), Asia, North America and Australia, it has achieved a 2019-tunover of about 90 million Euros and a staff of about 250 employees.

The company presents a range of monoblock solutions (which integrate box and case forming, loading and closing) cartoning and sleeving machines, wrap-around and display-box case packers, but also forming and closing machines, preparatory to the integration into complete production lines in the food industry and non-. Cama machines are designed according to a functional and ergonomic design, with user-friendly and safe accessibility, which simplifies and speeds up maintenance and changeover operations.

The company invests 5% of its yearly turnover in research and development activities, proposing itself as all-round supplier, able to transfer end-users all necessary competences to exploit the offered technology at best. Cama is certified UNI EN ISO 9001, UNI EN ISO 14001, ECOVADIS, SMETA and OHSAS 18001 in the field of the design, engineering and manufacturing of packaging machines and robotic systems.

The right mix among technological innovation, accessibility and performance

The offer by Cama Group dedicated to the case packaging includes the line of Wrap-around and Display Box Case Packers and of RSC case packing machines (FW and IN series) for packing a broad range of products in RSC, one-piece wrap-around or two-piece display cases for Shelf Ready packaging solutions.

MP cardboard sleevers, which group products with cardboard bands (for instance yogurt, jars, tubs), combine technological innovation, easy accessibility, performance and functionality. Sleeving machines assure flexibility, reliability and high manufacturing efficiency.

Cartoning machines (series CL) are the ideal solution for the horizontal product loading and can be integrated into packaging lines in the food industry and others.

The monoblock loading unit (series IF) represents a unique integrated combination of packaging machines and robotic loading units, enabling to manage the different formats with a significant reduction of the space taken up. These units are conceived to manage a broad range of products in flow wraps, or in thermoformed bags, trays or cartons that are then packaged in RSC, boxes or trays.

Through a constant investment in research and development in the Robotic Division activities, Cama has developed a new range of loading units with vision system, with the aim of offering solutions that satisfy customers’ requirements, according to the corporate motto “Technology with high added-value”.

In the company, for some time now they have also started a process, which we can define as “son” of Industry 4.0, sprung from the digitalization of Cama machines through connection components. The successive step was making machines virtual and creating simulations by altering the system state to assess operation processes.
